Oracle Project Raptor

Finally, the much awaited TOAD like software is released by oracle. Thanks to oracle for recognizing that they need to have a software like TOAD delivered free of cost.

They have not yet implemented all the functionalities of TOAD, but its pretty OK. (Its free ofcourse). A delight for oracle pl/sql developers who don't have access to TOAD.

Its more intended towards developers than DBA's.

You can download Oracle project raptor here.

I've started to use it and almost got familiar with it.

Raptor has a long way to go! TOAD has become part of our lives. I just downloaded the trail version of TOAD and you will not believe the DBA features that it has. Hats Off to Quest!

YES, i agree that TOAD is awesome, but remeber that u've pay about a 1000$ or so for the license. As a freeware, Raptor is decent enough for developers. Atleast you can live with it when you don't have a thousand bucks with u.

Also, for DBA's, i would never suggest using TOAD or raptor or TORA or whatever software is out there. I would use the command prompt so that i know what views i'm using to get the desired output which helps me know more and more about oracle.
